Easy Ways to Find Your Baby Due Date

It can sometimes be hard to figure out what your baby’s due date is.  This is especially the case when you are a new parent.  You don’t have any of the expectations that would normally come with a seasoned parent.  Instead, you have to rely on what books, doctors, and your friends have to say about the issue. 

Most of the time, though, the calculation of the baby due date is something that is very personal.  Unfortunately, someone can’t just look at you and know.  There are some people who claim that they can tell how far along in your pregnancy you are just by looking at the size of your stomach.  Don’t rely on this information!  If you do, you may find that your baby comes significantly early or significantly late.

You best bet, in order to find out your baby due date, is to contact your obstetrician.  Obstetricians are doctors that specialize in the pregnancy process.  They will be able to tell how far along you are and will be able to give you an approximate date of when your baby is due.  While this is a good idea, sometimes life gets in the way and you can’t make it to the doctor as soon as you would like.  While it is absolutely necessary to visit the doctor in these circumstances, you can still get a rough idea of when your baby due date is by using a due date calculator.

Due date calculators can be found on the internet pretty easily however; the only downfall with this method is that there are some websites that do not have content that you can trust.  Since this is such a delicate issue, you should use a website that has a lot of acclaim.  You can find such calculators at Parents.com and WebMD.com.  These are both reputable websites that carry these calculators.

It’s relatively easy to figure out your general baby due date using this method.  Most of these calculators work in the same way.  First, they will ask you when the first day of your last period was.  They need this information because it is relevant to when your child was conceived.  If you can’t remember exactly which day, don’t worry.  If you are off by a few days, this won’t impact your results much at all. 

Some calculators will then ask you how long the gap between your cycles usually lasts.  Since most women average about 28 days between cycles, other calculators will use this number instead and not bother you with this detail.  This is another important aspect that they use to calculate your baby’s due date.

Once you have entered all of the necessary information, the calculator will give you the suspected due date.  Keep in mind that this won’t be exact.  Not only is it hard to predict exactly when your baby will be born, but some come earlier or later than average.  Still, you are likely to get good enough information that you can use to determine the average date.  For example, if the first day of your last period was on January first, then you are likely to have your baby around the seventh of October. 

While finding out this information with an online calculator can be very helpful, don’t forget to visit a doctor for any further information.  They may have a more accurate baby due date than you received online.  They will also be able to help you with other aspects of your pregnancy.  Once you suspect that you may be pregnant, you should start seeing a doctor.  These visits will continue during and after the pregnancy as well.
