No Ovulation: What it MeansFor many years, women have used their ovulation calendars as a way to determine when they are most fertile. Ovulation occurs when the egg leaves the ovaries and heads toward the uterus. If you were to have sex during this time, you are much more likely to become pregnant.
It is now very popular to chart the progress of your menstrual cycle so that you can get pregnant as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, some women find out bad news when they do this. The other way to track your ovulation is to take ovulation predictor kits. These test your urine and let you know if you are ovulating. These, just like the temperature measurements, are not one hundred percent accurate. Still, they help out quite a bit for when you need to know more about your body. Using these two methods combined will help you determine when your ovulation occurs. There are a small percentage of women who do not ovulate. They find that when they do their ovulation calendar, their temperature never changes and the ovulation predictor kits come back negative. While this is rare, some women do find this to be the case. Be sure to do your calendar for several months just to make sure. Then you may want to go to a fertility specialist. They can check you to make sure that this is true. If you do not ovulate, you cannot have children. This means that you are what doctors call anovulatory. This news is devastating for most families. Some women who first notice that they are not ovulating just do not believe it. they think that since they get their period, they must be fertile. The fact of the matter is that infertile women will still bleed every so often. Although this is not technically a period, it resembles one. This will happen because the uterine lining, while not able to bear children, will need to shed off its layers. This won’t usually happen as often as a regular period. Instead, you may find that you bleed every few months or once each year. These ‘periods’ will also be very heavy. Some women bleed so much that they need to see a doctor from the blood loss. Doctors have found ways to reestablish the fertility of some women. There are drugs that can help those with no ovulation. They cannot help everyone though. These drugs are also risky and expensive, so the decision to use them must be weighed very carefully. Still, it can be worth it to be able to rear your own child. |
