Common Ovulation Signs and Symptoms

There is a lot of value in finding out when you are ovulating.  If you are thinking of having a child, this is a very important thing to know.  If you do not, you may find that you are working very hard and never getting pregnant.

This can be a stressful thing for most women.  They desperately want to be a mother, yet everything they try does not yield positive results.  They still do not have a child and they are growing ever sadder because of it.  They think that there must be something wrong with them.  Are the infertile?  Is their husband infertile?  The answers to these questions may be no.  Some couples just have a harder time getting pregnant.  That does not mean that they never will.  They just need to plan for it better than they are doing right now.  To do this, you need to know when your ovulation is.

Ovulation is very important to all aspects of getting pregnant.  While you can technically conceive a child during any point of your menstrual cycle, sometimes are worse than others.  For example, while you can get pregnant during your menstrual period, it is very rare.  This does not happen for most women.  Alternately, ovulation is the best time to get pregnant.  This is the time when your egg leaves the ovary and heads for the uterus.  If the sperm catches it during this time, there is a much higher chance of getting pregnant.  Unfortunately, it can be a bit hard to figure out whether you are ovulating or not.  It is easy to know if you are having your menstrual period.

One way that you can figure out if you are ovulating is to start an ovulation calendar.  Do not let the name fool you.  Although there are companies out there that make and market ovulation calendars, you really can use whatever kind of calendar you want, even a yearly wall calendar will do.  Once you have the calendar ready, you will need to start taking your body temperature.  This helps because doctors have found that women tend to be up to one degree warmer during their ovulation.  Every day, take your temperature and write it on the calendar.  Soon, you will find a trend in the statistics and you will see the few days when you are warmer.  This is most likely your ovulation time, the time when you have the biggest chance of conceiving a baby.

There are other, more natural ways of predicting your ovulation.  There are ovulation symptoms that are universal for most women.  In fact, these ovulation symptoms are eerily similar to the feelings that you get during your menstrual period.  For example, you may feel abdominal cramps during your ovulation.  This feels much like what you may go through during your period.  You also might get bloated with water weight.  If so, there is a good chance that you may be ovulating.  These ovulation signs and symptoms are not completely accurate, but they are still good at figuring out when you may be ovulating.

If you are not having much luck with the above methods, you can always visit a doctor.  Obstetricians and gynecologists know exactly what to do in this situation.  They will help you figure out when you are most fertile so that you can have the baby that you always wanted.  They are very good at their job and will be helpful along the way.  You will also find that you will need to go to them for other aspects of the pregnancy once you conceive your new child.
